Dan was born and raised in Wisconsin and attended UW-Green Bay, where he competed, and later coached, the Nordic ski team. Highlights from this chapter of his life included participating in the Olympic Trials, the NCAA Championships, and World University Games in Jaca Spain. After graduating, Dan moved to Hawaii for 10 years and took up triathlon and marathon running. During his tenure in Hawaii, Dan competed in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, and won the Volcano Wilderness Marathon 4 times!
Dan now resides in the driftless Region of Wisconsin and his past times include paddling, cycling, skiing, running and trapping. Dan still actively races and has recently competed in the Ironman Wisconsin, Birkebeiner and local triathlons. In recent years, Dan has found great satisfaction in getting others involved in the sports close to his heart. He organizes and coach’s a youth Nordic ski team: Snowflake Youth Nordic and the Driftless Endurance triathlon club.
